Federal Funds

AccelerateMS is dedicated to securing the necessary federal resources to advance workforce development initiatives across Mississippi, helping to enhance skills, improve employment opportunities, and drive economic growth in the state. This includes actively pursuing competitive grants, building strategic partnerships with federal agencies and stakeholders, and aligning funding opportunities with the state’s most critical workforce needs. Through these efforts, AccelerateMS works to ensure that individuals and employers alike have access to the tools, training, and support needed to succeed in an evolving economy.

The Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (SLFRF), established under the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021, provided federal recovery funding administered by MDES, with AccelerateMS overseeing compliance, management, and monitoring for sub-recipients. The program has now reached the end of its funding cycle, and resources are no longer available.

Resources

Requests for Letter of Support/Collaboration

  • AccelerateMS can provide letters of support or collaboration to partners to strengthen their grant applications. These letters will highlight the collaborative efforts and shared goals between AccelerateMS and the partnering organization.
  • Partners seeking a letter of support or collaboration letter should submit a formal request to AccelerateMS, including a draft of the proposed letter, a summary of the grant application/project concept or project summary, and how the project aligns with AccelerateMS’s mission and objectives

Funding Opportunity Identification and Grant Application Support

  • We actively identify and share federal funding opportunities that support workforce initiatives and encourage partners to share projects in need of funding so we can connect them with relevant resources. Additional grant support may be available.

Veteran Workforce Council

  • A group of partners is collaborating to explore effective strategies for connecting veterans with training and employment opportunities across the state. AccelerateMS and MDES continue to work together to develop a more streamlined and effective pathway for identifying and placing military-connected individuals into higher-quality jobs
